Myron Fernandes, an Indian-born professional footballer who plays forward for Dempo S.C. in the I-League, was born on May 2, of the year 1993.

Football Career

Myron Fernandes, who was born in the city of Mapusa, in the state of Goa, began playing football at the age of nine. Early on, Myron received training from his uncle Sebastian D’Costa, who played for Churchill Brothers S.C. at the time. At the age of just 11, Myron joined the St. Britto’s High School U14 team. Myron Fernandes was later chosen to train at the Goa United Sports Academy with Agostinho Dias as his coach. When Myron Fernandes was only 15 years old, Fernandes was signed by Benny XI to play for the club’s senior team in the Goa First Division, which is just a tier below the Goa Professional League, Goa’s premier division. Before Dempo S.C. signed him to join their youth program, Myron Fernandes managed to score six goals for the team.

Fernandes was chosen for the Goa U15 team in the year 2008 and trained in Portugal. Fernandes and Goa trained in the Vitória S.C. academy when they were in Portugal, and they even competed for a week against the academy teams of S.C. Braga, S.L. Benfica, and Boavista F.C. Following his time in Portugal, Fernandes was chosen to train at the Manchester United Soccer Schools in Manchester, England, along with 13 other football players from Goa. The next year, Myron Fernandes was the only football player from India to be chosen for the “Gary Linekar scholarship,” which allowed him to train for one week at the Leicester City Academy.

Then, in the month of February of the year 2011, Fernandes and his teammate Aniston Fernandes were chosen to train for three to four months at FC Midtjylland’s academy in Denmark.

On September 29, of the year 2013, Myron Fernandes made his I-League debut for Dempo S.C. against Mumbai F.C. at the Balewadi Sports Complex. Myron Fernandes replaced Clifford Miranda in the 92nd minute as Dempo only managed a 1-1 tie.
