Mohammad Amir praise Indian team management for backing Bumrah when he wasn’t performing well in Australia

Former Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir shocked his fans when he announced his abrupt retirement from the game due to lack of support from PCB.

Recently Amir was interacting with a YouTube channel known as “Cricket Pakistan”  where he talked about a couple of issues right from PSL to national team structure in detail.

In response to one of the questions, Amir praises Indian team management for backing Burmah when the speedster was going through his rough phase in Australia where he took only one wicket in 16 matches.

He further asserted that they backed Bumrah because they knew that he is a match-winner and they supported him which was the most important time for any player who is going through a tough time.

“I think it is not the right mindset to look at the performance of only four or five matches. If you remember, [Jasprit] Bumrah had only one wicket in 16 matches when he was playing the Australia series, but nobody questioned him because they knew that he is a match-winning bowler. That was the time they [Indian team management] should have supported him, and they did that,” stated Amir as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Amir also criticised PCB for poorly managing the recently postponed season of PSL where seven players were tested positive for COVID-19 due to biosecure bubble breach where two independent committee members have been appointed to investigate on this matter.

The former bowler also added that the management is given the role to help a player when he is not performing and having a rough patch, and in that case, they should not discard him.

The management cannot just sit and relax, assuming all the players are just incredible. He also brushed off talks of him rejoining the Pakistan squad and taking retirement back.

“You are given the job to help the player when he is not performing and not just discard him from the side. If it’s like this, then we should give you an entire team made up of players like Cristiano Ronaldo so that you can sit back and relax and do nothing,” concluded Amir.
