Mohammad Amir and Haris Sohail pull out of England tour, PCB confirms

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced that Mohammad Amir and Haris Sohail will not tour England due to personal reasons. As PCB released in a statement “Amir has withdrawn so that he can be available for the birth of the second child, while Haris will miss the tour due to personal reasons”.

Pakistan is all set to send 28 players along with 14 supporting staff for three-Test and three T20 which will be played in August and September. The squad along as well as Pre-series and series schedule will be announced in some time.

As per PCB, there will be no training camp for the national team due to COVID-19  is not possible as the safety of the players is the most important thing at the moment.

PCB further said that “Taking into account the COVID-19 outlook in Pakistan in the coming weeks, the operational and logistical matters as well the observation that keeping players in a safe and secure environment would remain a challenge, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided not to hold a training camp of the national men’s team before their departure for England”.

The body also said that it is already in discussions with the England Cricket Board (ECB) to bring forward to their early July departure in England so that Pakistan squad can get benefit from additional benefit here.

PCB concluded by saying that “More details around the pre-tour COVID-19 testing of the players and players support, assembling them in Lahore and their training/match schedule will be shared in a due course”.
