The 21 year old, broke her 23rd year old record  set by her coach Anju Bobby George who paved inspiration for other generation to female athlete to take up this sport.

“Breaking Anju mam’s record in long Jump in Federation Cup is a moment of pride for me. Her achievements have always been inspiration, and to follow in her footsteps means everything. Veteran Anju Bobby George congratulated Shali Singh achievement as symbol of praise and what Indian women future hold in Sports.

“Records are meant to be broken, and I am thrilled Shaili accomplished this feat. When we spotted her talent few years ago, I knew she had it in him to surpass even my best marks. Watching her closer towards nearest angle. I am happy to pass this batton to someone so dedicated and gifted” Anju said.

Considering her brilliant achievement, she has been added in India’s 56th member squad for the Upcoming Asian Athletics Championships all set to take place from May 27th to 31st 2025 in Gumi, South Korea if she does wonder she would certainly make it towards World Athletics Championships to be held between 21st to 24th September in 2025 in Tokyo Japan.

Let’s dwell more about her in the below format:

1. She was born on 7th January 2000, in Jhansi Uttar Pradesh, who compete in Long Jump events, she was raised by Single Mother Vinita Singh who took care of her and two other child at young age.

2. Her mother is a small time entrepreneur and she moved to Bengaluru at the age of 14 years old to start her training at Anju Bobby George Foundation, where she learned the nuances of Sports under George Couple.

3. She represented India in Under 20 World Championships held in Nairobi in Long Jump event where she bagged silver medal.

4. She also represented India in Asian Athletics Championships, in Bangkok in Long Jump event where she bagged silver medal.

5. Her performance in 2024, were not upto the mark, where she finished at 5th place at Asian Games and Asian Indoor Championships in long jump category where her best performance came with a distance of 6.48 m and 6.27 meter and still she finished at 5th place.

My Perspective:

If you look at overall technicalities of her game, her swift response along with psychological aspects keeps her hope alive in ever marquee event she participate.

Anju Bobby Geroge should be credited for inspiring the next generation and guiding them technical nuances of the game to great extent.

Shali Singh coming from humble background to making it to the top is the perfect story of redemption and she deserve credit for this beautiful transformation.

Shali Singh will do more wonders if correct coaching and training will come into play.

Talking about other Athletic front, an event based on Neeraj Chopra’s name will be organized next month, in Bengaluru where the best athletes around the business will compete against each other and doing well over there, will propel directly to Asian Athletics event.

Athletics Federation of India stakeholders should be given credit for building robust infrastructure and organizing several tournaments under their backyard so that best in the business can compete against each other and do wonders at highest level.

You can catch all the actions live on Star Sports and the same could be streamed on Jiohotstar app which might not have happened before and Neeraj Chopra should be given enormous credit for that.
