Dutch international cricketer Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd born on 4 March 1994, made his debut for the Netherlands national cricket team in the month of June of the year 2015. Max ODowd has participated in three ICC Men’s T20 World Cups as a right-handed opening batsman for the Netherlands.
Personal Life
Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on March 4, of the year 1994. His father, Alex O’Dowd, played club cricket for HBS Craeyenhout in the Netherlands and played first-class cricket for Auckland and Northern Districts in New Zealand.
O’Dowd’s mother possesses a Dutch passport for him. Max ODowd was raised in the Netherlands until he was twelve years old, at which point Max ODowd moved back to Auckland and enrolled at Westlake Boys High School.
Domestic Career
O’Dowd participated in the month-long 2012 European Challenge Series for the Netherlands’ under-19 national cricket squad. His tournament highlights were two half-centuries (against Jersey and Guernsey) and a five-wicket haul (5/20) against Jersey.
O’Dowd participated in every game for the Auckland under-19s in the National Under-19 Tournament during his return to New Zealand for the 2012–13 season. In the year 2013, Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd participated in club cricket in England. That same year, he also represented Nottinghamshire in a single game of the Second Eleven Championship. O’Dowd played frequently for Auckland A in the New Zealand season of 2014–15. Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd signed with the Northern Hurricanes club in the North Sea Pro Series, a professional league that includes teams from Scotland and the Netherlands, for the 2015 campaign.
Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd was chosen to represent the Rotterdam Rhinos in the inaugural Euro T20 Slam cricket competition in the month of July of the year 2019.
International Career
In the month of June of the year 2015, O’Dowd made his senior debut for the Netherlands in an Intercontinental Cup match against Papua New Guinea, scoring 14 in the first innings before being dismissed by Loa Nou. Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd was out to Willie Gavera for a five-ball duck in the second innings. O’Dowd made his Twenty 20 International debut for the Netherlands against Nepal in the month of July of the year 2015, and was named in the Netherlands’ squads for the WCL Championship and the 2015 World Twenty 20 Qualifier. Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd made his One Day International (ODI) debut in June 2019 against Zimbabwe and was named in the Dutch squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the month of September of the year 2019. O’Dowd became the first batsman for the Netherlands to record a century in a Twenty 20 International (T20I) game in the month of March of the year 2021 with a score of 133 not out off 73 balls. In September 2021, Maxwell Patrick O’Dowd was named in the Dutch squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
