Mark Sinclair Chapman born on 27th June 1994 is a Hong Kong-born International Cricketer. Currently, Chapman plays for New Zealand, he is a left-handed batsman and bowls slow left-arm orthodox. Having a dual passport, Chapman is eligible to play in New Zealand and made his first-class debut for Auckland in the 2015-16 domestic season as a local player. He is only one of the ten players to score a century on ODI debut. He accomplished his mark on his debut against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai where he scored 124 runs.

Early life

Chapman was born in Hong Kong. His mother was Chinese whereas his father was from New Zealand. His father being a citizen of New Zealand made him eligible to play for the country. He did his schooling in Hong Kong from Island School and later on enrolled as King’s College in Auckland at the age of 14. He completed his engineering degree from the University of Auckland.

Domestic Career

Chapman played for Hong Kong under-19 team at the age of 15 at the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. He made his World Cup debut at 2011 Division three tournament, where he helped Hong Kong to gain promotion to 2011 World Cup League Division Two. He made his List A debut against Uganda later on the same tournament. He made his first-class debut on 17th December 2015 in the 2015-16 Plunket Shield. He scored his first century in a T20 match. On 1st January 2018 against Canterbury, in the 2017-18 Super Smash. He signed a contract for 2018-19 with the Auckland In January 2018.

International Career

Chapman became the vice-captain in Hong Kong’s squad for its two World Cup League fixture against the United Arab Emirates in November 2015. His ODI debut was on 16th December 2015. In his ODI debut, he scored 124 not out for 116 balls. He played his last ODI on 10th March 2018, New Zealand against England. Chapman T20 debut was played 16th March 2014 Hong Kong against Nepal. He was included in the T20 International squad Of New Zealand in February 2018, for the Trans-Tasman tri-series against Australia and England. His T20 International for New Zealand was on 13th February 2018 against England.  On 28th February 2018, Chapman made his ODI Debut for New Zealand against England becoming the tenth cricketer to have played ODI’s for two international teams.
