One of the versatile southpaw Sadiq Mohammad was born on May 3, 1945, at Gujarat, India. Sadiq Mohammad made his test debut against New Zealand in 1969 and went on to represent the country for 41 times in tests and also played alone one day game for the country. During his career spanning over 11 years, he has scored 2579 runs at an average of 35 for his team. He has scored 5 centuries and 10 half-centuries under his name.

He has been the regular member of the team in the 1970s and played a key role in the team’s success during that time. He was the younger brother of great Pakistani batsmen hanif Mushtaq. During his playing days, he also played county cricket as his teammates do. He represented Gloucestershire county cricket team and also a regular member for them. He officially got retired from all forms of the cricket in 1981. His last match came against mighty West Indies in 1981.

Injuries and lack of fitness forced him out of the team for a couple of times but he came back strongly from those hurdles and played credible innings for his team over the years. After his retirement, he made his career in coaching and went on to coach few domestic teams before coaching national side for the bronze medal at Asian games in 2010. He also served as an umpire for lots of domestic matches and also served as an umpire for a lone international test match.

Valiant fielder during his playing days also took 28 catches for his team. He will be highly remembered for his match-winning knock against arch-rivals India where he went on to score the match-winning 128 runs at their own den. Technically sound batsmen also know for his temperament and ability to score big made him so special during his playing days.
