Maratha Arabians win the third edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 league

The third edition of the T10 League has come to end with the Maratha Arabians crowned as the champions. They played against the Deccan Gladiators in the final, who were consistently good throughout the tournament but faltered at the last step. They were put in to bat first and were soon 36-4 and despite cameos from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Asif Khan, they could manage only 87 runs on the board.

In the chase, Chadwick Walton took the onus for the Maratha Arabians and remained unbeaten on 51 off 26 balls while Chris Lynn contributed with 16 runs. Other small contributions followed and the side got over the line in only 7.2 overs.

A game for the third place was also played before the finals. Bangla Tigers faced the Qalandars, who posted 109-3 in their 10 overs. But their bowlers let them down as the Tigers chased down the target with six wickets to spare.

Captain of the Arabians, Dwayne Bravo, was ecstatic after the win.

It was a very special performance. I will officially change my name now to Mr. Champion,” Bravo said after the win.

“Each of us deserves this victory. It was a change to play against the defending champions who have a fabulous team. Guys like Malinga and I came up with a plan and forced teams to beat us against that plan,” he added.

Yuvraj Singh, who made his T10 debut in this edition, said it was a good experience for him and if all countries start playing the format, it is not too difficult to pick up.

Man of the match went to Walton, who had hardly performed in the league till the final. Not only did he hit a 26-ball 51, he also executed three important run-outs on the field.

This edition of the league saw better numbers in viewership than the previous seasons due to some big names who signed up for the action.
