Manchester United academy Graduate Jonny Evans returns to the club on a short-term deal
Defender Jonny Evans who is a Manchester United academy graduate has returned to the club after 8 years. He has signed a short-term contract with the Red Devils and will be a part of the team during their Pre-season tour at the USA. Erik Ten Hag’s men still have 7 Pre-season games to play after winning their first game against Leeds United by 2-0.
Meanwhile, Jonny Evans who left the club in 2015 could get some game time in United’s 2nd Pre-season game against French club Lyon later today at Murrayfield Stadium. The 35-year-old began his Man United journey in 2006 and his 9-year stint was extremely successful.

He has won the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, 1 FA Cup, 2 EFL Cups and 3 English Premier League titles. His first stint with the club saw him play 198 matches in all competitions with 7 goals and 7 assists. In 2015, he signed for West Bromwich Albion where he stayed for 3 years before 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City bought him for £3.5 million on a 3-year deal in 2018.

The Foxes got were relegated in his final season at the King Power Stadium and upon his contract expiration, Evans signed a short-term deal with United as a Free agent. Duration of the contract is undisclosed but it is being said that he has already impressed head coach Erik Ten Hag during his initial training sessions with the first team.
Jonny Evans can also earn a contract extension with England Centre-back Harry Maguire in line for a rumored exit after he was stripped off Club Captaincy by Erik Ten Hag. After today’s Pre-season game against Lyon, the Red Devils have high octane games against Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, FC Lens and Athletic Bilbao before their 2023/24 PL opener against Wolves on 15th August.
