Maharashtra State Kabaddi Championships Reaches Its Final Day

‘The 70th Maharashtra State Kabaddi Championships in Ahmednagar awaits the grand finals as the quarter finals conclude on Day 3’

The action filled second day from the 70th Maharashtra State Championship concluded with 4 teams from the men’s and the women’s category each entering the semi-finals. At the end of the three day long pre-quarters and quarterfinals , In the men’s category, Ahmednagar, Nanded, Mumbai Shahar and Mumbai Upnagar made it to the semi-finals while in the women’s category, Mumbai Shahar, Palghar, Pune and Nandurbar claimed their spots, making Mumbai Shahar the only team from the 25 district teams to enter the semi-finals in the men’s as well as the women’s category.

In the men’s quarter finals, Mumbai Shahar defeated Dhule with 23 points while Mumbai Upnagar defeated Ratnagiri with 12 points. Ahmednagar took over Nashik by 28 points but it was Nanded who absolutely dominated the game by defeating Sangli by 32 points. The
women’s category quarter finals saw the Mumbai Shahar team take on the Mumbai Upnagar team, defeating the latter by 10 points and Palghar, Pune and Nandurbar teams defeating Thane, Kolhapur and Dhule teams respectively. However, Pune enjoyed a clean sweep victory against Kolhapur with scoring 64 points and limiting Kolhapur to meagre 15 points.

The Spotlight performers from Day 3 were Aakash Shinde from the Nashik team, who even after not qualifying for the semi-finals made it to the list of Top 5 Raiders of the tournament due to his spectacular performance throughout the tournament. The spotlight performer
from women’s category was Ishwari Kondawekar from the Nandurbar team who efficiently took her team to the semi-finals and topped the Top Defenders of the tournament list.

The fourth and the final day of the tournament will start with Mumbai Shahar (women’s) playing against Palghar (women’s) and Ahmednagar (men’s) playing against Nanded (men’s). The grand finale of this biggest Kabaddi tournament from Maharashtra will take place on the fourth day itself, that is, the 30th December 2022.

The winners of this tournament will be named as the best Kabaddi Team in Maharashtra in 2022.
