Mohamed Salah scores two goals as Liverpool beat Brighton 3-1

Premier League champions Liverpool FC finished their current campaign with a convincing victory over Newcastle by 3-1 at the St James Park on Sunday. 

It was Newcastle who scored the first goal of the match and that too in the starting 30 seconds of the match. Striker Dwight Gayle netted a fabulous first goal for the side, as the midfielder Jonjo Shelvey assisted him really well. The scores within the first minute of the match reached 1-0. 

The Magpies were hit by a blow in the 18th minute when defender Federico Fernandez was given a yellow card and soon Liverpool started created opportunities and 20 minutes later, they finally scored their first goal of the match. 

Chamberlain had the possession of the ball as he carried it to the top-right before passing it on to Virgil van Dijk for a sensational header and levelled the score to 1-1. 

The second half was completely dominated by Jurgen Klopp’s men as they toiled hard to score as many goals and win their last Premier League match. 

In the 59th minute, Robertson laid the foundation for Divock Origi which went successful as plotted by the Reds. Origi and Robertson charged towards the box and with perfect coordination, and a beautiful shot from Origi, putting Liverpool in front and also doubled the lead to 2-1. 

Salah did put some superlative efforts but that didn’t go for a goal especially one such instance when he hit the ball but that hit the pole and deflected. However, the efforts of Klopp’s men didn’t go in vain as Sadio Mane took the charge in the 89th minute of and breezed past the defence of Newcastle for the third goal. 

Jurgen Klopp and his men finally ended their campaign on a high by winning their last match and scoring 99 points this season. While Newcastle finished with 44 points and at 13th place this season.
