Liverpool defeat West Ham United in an enthralling fashion -

Liverpool clinched the victory from the jaws of defeat and took a giant stride towards ending their long-awaited Premier League trophy wait after defeating West Ham United by a scoreline of 3-1 at Anfield. With this victory, Liverpool goes 22 points clear of Manchester City and are just 4 victories away from sealing the Premier League title in a quick possible fashion.

On the other hand, the defeat for the Hammers meant that they will end the week in the relegation zone with 24 points from 27 games. They are a point behind Aston Villa who are also fighting the relegation battle. Liverpool won their 21st straight home game breaking the previous record in the English top tier which was set by themselves in 1972.

Liverpool started the proceedings in a great fashion when Wijnaldum scored a header in the ninth minute when Trent Alexander Arnold whipped a cross from the right flank. However, the runaway leaders’ joy couldn’t stay long as the relegation fighting West Ham equalized from Issa Diop’s angling header which was a regular save for Alisson.

Moreover, David Moyes managed side stunned Anfield in the 54th minute when Pablo Fornals shot the ball into the far corner after he collected the low cross from Declan Rice. However, the howler from the West Ham shot-stopper allowed Reds to equalize. Managers’ and Players view on the game

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was very happy about his team’s spirit and fight throughout the game. Klopp also applauded the first goal scored by Merseysiders. He said:

“We started really well, scored a wonderful first goal. Then we weren’t good in the second ball situations,” said Klopp.

“We struggled in these situations, that was difficult for us tonight.

“You have to squeeze it, force it and that’s what we did tonight. It’s so special, it’s unbelievable.”

Also, the manager was very happy about creating their own history. He reiterated what he said in the earlier month about the standards in Liverpool. The manager affirmed:

“I said at the beginning we want to write our own stories, create our own history,” said Klopp.

Westham United manager, David Moyes as unhappy about their devastating loss to Liverpool at Anfield whom they had by a scoreline of 2-1 at the hour mark. David Moyes said:

“We thought there was points there for us tonight and we didn’t take it.

Even the third goa, the shot is going wide and it deflects off him into his path. Sometimes you can be at a club at a time when everything is going against you and I think that tonight, that third goal was.

Liverpool were still good and made opportunities but the shot was going wide, deflected off Noble into their path, it was really harsh on us as well.”
