Ravichandran Ashwin is certainly one of the greatest spinners India has produced to date. This man has been making his contribution through the ball, and even with the bat for many years. Ravichandran Ashwin showed his class again on the first day of the Test match against West Indies. He went on to take a 5-wicket haul on day 1 of the test match. This can be said that he has made his team win half of the match. Now the batsmen need to ensure that they make their contribution well. In this manner, India will be able to win the Test match without any issues.

New records set by Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin is getting close to his 500 wickets record. But before that on the way, he is certainly setting up new milestones for his team. After taking a 5-wicket haul on day 1 of the test match, he has gone up in the record list. Some of those records are given below.

  • This is the 33rd 5-wicket haul for Ashwin.
  • He is at no.6 in the list of bowlers, who have taken the most number of wicket hauls.
  • Among all the Indian bowlers, only Anil Kumble has taken more 5-wicket hauls than Ashwin.
  • Ashwin became the 3rd bowler from India to take 700 international wickets.

Records ahead of Ashwin

There are few records that Ashwin can break in this series. You can see the list below.

  • Ashwin is just one five-wicket haul behind Rangana Herath. Rangana has taken 34 5-wicket hauls, and Ashwin has 33.
  •  Ashwin is only 9 international wickets behind Harbhajan Singh’s 711 wickets milestone.

It looks like, if Ashwin goes on to continue his present bowling form. Then he can easily pass the two records that are mentioned above. This will not only going to be beneficial for him, but it is also going to make it easy for India to win the series.
