Incredible talent and a gift for Indian cricket Mr. Rohit Gurunath Sharma was born in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He also plays for his home city, Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Captaining his IPL team, Rohit Sharma is also the vice-captain for his national side. A talented allrounder who went on to become a successful higher order batsman in the recent past, Rohit Sharma was born on 30th April 1987. He started his career in India from 2007. He is also known as the “Hitman” of the Indian cricket team. Rohit started his ODI career on 23rd June 2007 versus Ireland and to the date, Hitman has made 29 centuries and 43 fifties in ODI cricket.

Today we are going to talk about the list of double centuries he made for India in ODIs briefly:

#1. 209 v Australia (2 November 2013)

Rohit Sharma scored his first double century in ODIs against the Aussies in a 7-match series in Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Scoring a total of 209 runs, Rohit became the 3rd ever batsman to score a double century for India. He was also the 3rd batsman in the world to score a double century. Scoring at a strike rate of 132.28, Sharma scored 209 runs in just 158 balls. He hit 12-fours and 16-sixes; Rohit Sharma helped India to post a total of 383 runs in 50 overs. In reply, Australia could only manage to score 326 runs in 45.1 overs with no wickets remaining at the end. James Faulkner was the lone survivor for the Aussies as he scored 116 runs off just 73 balls. India went on to win the match along with the series.

#2. 264 v Sri Lanka (13 November 2014)

Exactly after one year and 11 days, Rohit Sharma went on to hit his 2nd double century in ODI cricket at the Eden Garden, Kolkata, in a five-match series against Sri Lanka. This century came on the 4th ODI of the series. Scoring a total of 264 runs in 173 balls, Sharma became the highest run-scorer by a batsman in an innings. Being in a tremendous form Rohit scored these runs at a strike rate of 152.60. In this match, he hit 33 fours and 9 sixes which helped India to post a total of 404 runs in 50 overs. Chasing this huge total Sri Lanka collapsed after scoring 251 runs in 43.1 overs. In the bowling department, Dhawal Kulkarni showed some ray of spark as he took 4 wickets for 34 runs in 10 overs.

#3. 208* v Sri Lanka (13 December 2017)

Rohit Sharma scored his 3rd double-century against Sri Lanka at the PCA Bindra Stadium in Mohali. After scoring the double century in this match, Hitman became the only batsman to score 3 double centuries in ODI cricket. He scored 208 runs in just 153 balls, at a strike rate of 135.9. He hit 13 fours and 12 sixes throughout the innings. At the end of the innings, India posted a total of 392 runs in 50 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka could only manage to score 251/8. For the team, Angelo Mathews made a promising 111 runs, but couldn’t chase the target.
