Lille, also known as LOSC, is a French association Football club. They participate in the Ligue 1 and Cope de France
Lille was formed 75 years ago on 23rd September 1944 when two clubs Olympique and SC Fives united due to their weak conditions as a result of the World War.
The club, in its first decade, won two league titles and reached second place for four consecutive seasons.
The club suffered a major setback, when it was relegated for the first time in 1956, due to lack of facilities and resources. The club was saved by some young leaders such as Max pommerolle who came and gave new inputs to the club.
In 2001, the club entered its first UEFA Competition. In the prestigious Champions League, they reached up to the 16th round.
The Ligue 1 Club is currently in the hands of Spanish businessman, entrepreneur and investor Gerard Lopez. In October 2016, he entered into talks with the club president Michel Seydoux who handed him the club eventually.
Gerard also serves as the president of the club. The club has changed its home ground three times since its origin. Currently, the Stade Pierre-Mauroy serves as the home ground of the club. The stadium is located in Lille which can hold 50,186 spectators.
The current net worth of the club is 223.60 Million Euros.
