Lanka Premier League 2023 Eliminator: Captain Wanindu Hasaranga gets 6 wickets in 20 balls

Wanindu Hasaranga

There is no doubt about the fact that Wanindu Hasaranga has bowled one of the best-ever T20 spells. This was certainly a brilliant spell, and it has come from the captain of the team. The other fact that makes this spell even more interesting is that he didn’t even complete his 4 overs. In only 3.2 overs (20 balls) he was able to get 6 wickets. The number of runs he gave away was only 9. He truly acted as the one-man army for his team.

Contribution of Wanindu Hasaranga

Hasaranga outclassed everyone in the bowling department. From opener to tailender, he got the wickets of batsmen from almost all the positions. Without his contribution, it had been really tough for Jaffna Kings to give a good performance.

  • The first and the most important wicket of Hasaranga was of Chris Lynn, who was the opener and a key batter for Jaffna Kings.
  • His next target was the 20-year-old batter, Dunith Wellalage who is certainly dangerous. However, before he had settled down, Hasaranga ensured to get his wicket early.
  • Soon, the wickets of Miller, Gunaratne, Theekshana, and even Thushara. By the time he took the last wicket of the innings, the score was only 127 runs. B-Love KJandy won the match by 61 runs. This was certainly a great way to reach the Qualifiers 2.

Contribution through bat

Hasaranga ensured that he made the contribution through the bat too. At the time he reached the crease, the score was 69-2. He went on to play a short, quick-fire inning. He scored 19 runs off only 11 balls. In his short innings, he was able to get two big sixes.

Undoubtedly, he made a brilliant contribution through the bat and ball both. Now he has to make it certain that he continues the same form even in the Qualifier 2 match. So that his team can reach the final of the tournament.
