The former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas doesn’t think that there is any personal dispute between Mesut Ozil and the Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
According to Nicholas, the only reason Emery is not picking Ozil is because he is not showing him in the training that he is ready to go into high pressure games and deliver the results.
“I think Unai Emery knows Ozil is not training hard enough, so that is why he is not putting him in the team.” Nicholas was quoted saying by Sky Sports.
Ozil is one of the most experienced players in the Arsenal squad. He has been at the club for the last 6 seasons and has played over 150 Premier League games. But he has been included in the starting XI of Arsenal only once in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal are clearly in the need of a creative midfielder at the moment and Ozil can fit the bill perfectly. He is someone who can create a link between the backline and the offensive line which will help Arsenal create more scoring opportunities.
Currently, the Gunners are playing with a couple of defensive midfielders who aren’t able to provide the services to the strikers that they need. That is the reason why Arsenal are struggling to find the back of the net.
The fans are wondering if there is a player in the squad who can be the solution to a visible weakness of the team, why is he being kept out of the starting XI?
Arsenal have to play a very important game in the middle of this week. That will be against Vitoria de Guimaraes in the Europa League. Nicholas doesn’t think Emery will opt to bring Ozil back for that game either.
“Will he throw Mesut Ozil into this situation?”, Nicholas counter questioned when asked if he sees Ozil in Arsenal’s starting XI for the Victoria game.
