KL Rahul breaks Virat Kohli’s record as India whitewash New Zealand

KL Rahul

At this point of time, there is no person on earth more efficient than KL Rahul. For the Indian cricket team, he is not the jack but the master of all trades. Whether it is opening the innings, or playing the role of an anchor at number 3 or stabilizing the innings at 4, Rahul is doing great in everything.

He is also impressive with his glove-work. Perhaps, if Indian skipper Virat Kohli gave him the ball, he could have picked up a hat-trick.

While that is a bit far-fetched, he has broken a record which was presumably very difficult to break. With his fine knocks against New Zealand in the recently concluded T20I series, KL Rahul has become India’s highest run-scorer in a single bilateral  T20Is series. He has scored 224 runs at an average of 56. He has also maintained an astonishing strike rate of almost 150.

Colin Munro, his nearest competitor, is 46 runs behind him. With this, KL Rahul has broken a record which Virat Kohli held till now. With 199 runs in the T20I series against Australia in 2016, he was previously the highest run-getter for India in a bilateral T20I series.

Rahul not thinking about World Cup

The ICC World T20 is going to be staged this year. Given the form he is in, many Indian fans are putting their money on Rahul to be India’s trump card at the tournament. However, the batsman himself has stated that he isn’t thinking about the World Cup yet.

I am batting really well now and I am happy to do the roles I am doing for my side. Not thinking too much about the T20 World Cup at the moment, but hopefully I can continue batting this way. We want to win games of cricket every time we go out. The kind of cricket we are playing is fun to watch and we hope to keep repeating this,” he said after the game, as per quotes in Republic World.
