Justin Langer confirms Australia’s opening pair for third Test match against India

Australian coach and ex-player Justin Langer confirms the opening pair against India during virtual press conference.  He said that David Warner is most likely to open the innings in the third test match as he is working hard on his fitness despite not being currently fit. He described the ace opener as “Warrior”. Langer further added that the opener loves Test cricket and is ready to battle against visitors and like to take the field on Sydney starting from January 7th 2021.

“Very hopeful that David will be ready to go (for the third Test), he is a bit of a warrior, isn’t he? I have said this since day one that he is doing everything possible to be ready. He is moving pretty well. He is very determined to play. He loves the competition and he loves playing Test cricket. We will get some final eyes on him at training this afternoon and we will make a discussion on that. But I would say, he (Warner) is looking very likely to play the Test match,” said Langer in a virtual conference.

Langer also talked about Will Pukovski who is most likely to start the inning with Warner in third test after recovering from concussion-related problem as he has been cleared to play by medical team.

“He has been cleared by all the medicos. He has been cleared and that will be very heartening for him and for his family and everyone involved in it.”

The last Test that Warner played in Australian colors was in January 2020 and as per Langer he will not be playing any practice game before stepping on the field on January 7th 2021.
