‘Just work on your basics’: Mithali Raj to teammates ahead of Women T20 Challenge

Ahead of upcoming Women T20 Challenge, Velocity Skipper Mithali Raj on Wednesday asked her teammates to focus on the basics rather than making things complicated. The women’s T20 Challenge will start from November 4th-9th 2020 in Sharjah where three teams will compete against each other who are- Trailblazers, Supernovas and Velocity.

As players will be completing their quarantine upon landing themselves in the UAE and will be following all the health protocols as part of precautionary measure against the novel coronavirus. The best thing which will work for us as player is to focus on our basics as we are playing professional cricket after long time due to COVID-19.

“We are not here to judge anybody, all of us are coming from the quarantine period, just get your basics, for the first two days work on your basics, once the flow comes and then ease into it. Hydrate yourself well if you train for a few minutes, intensity should be there, don’t try to push too hard” Video posted on official Twitter handle.

The other two captains are Smriti Mandana and Harmanpreet Kaur who will be leading TrailBlazers and SuperNovas respectively. Speaking about the TrailBlazers Captain Mandana said “It was a fun session, I was not expecting to time the ball as I did, it feels good to be back, all girls are very excited, everyone is looking in touch, really looking forward to November 4th.”

All the matches for Women Challenger T20 trophy will start from 7.30 PM(IST) barring the second match between Velocity and Trail Blazers which will be played from 3.30 pm in the afternoon. In order to make Women’s T20 Challenge successful, more teams should take part in future edition and top-class overseas players should be purchased to represent the respective franchise in future.
