Athanasios John Traicos is a former cricketer born on 17 May 1947 who represented Zimbabwe and South Africa at International level. He was an off-spin bowler primarily and is one of the small numbers of cricketers to have played at the highest level for more than one country. His batting style is right-handed and his bowling style is right-arm off-break.

John Traicos was born in Zagazig, Egypt where his father Tryphon worked in the family business. In 1948, September his family moved to what was then Fort Victoria in Southern Rodhesia. He was known as ‘Naso’ as a child but when he started University he adopted the name ‘John’. In 1997 Traicos’s family moved to Australia as a result of political instability in Zimbabwe and settled in Perth. He has two daughters. Elder daughter’s name is ‘Chole’ who is an actress, screenwriter and film director. His younger daughter ‘Catherine’ is a singer and songwriter.
In Test cricket, his debut match was Vs Australia at Durban on 5 February 1970 and his last Test match was Vs India at Delhi on 13 March 1993. In ODI cricket, he played his debut match against Australia at Nottingham on 9 June 1983 and last ODI match was Vs India at Pune on 25 March 1993.
In Test cricket, he scored 19 runs in 7 matches with the average of 3.16 and strike rate is 14.39. His best score in Test cricket is 5*. In ODI format he scored 88 runs n 27 matches with the average of 11.00 and strike rate of 50.28. His ODI highest score is 19.
His bowling performance was good in Test cricket. He got 18 wickets in 7 matches with the economy rate of 2.86 and in the ODI format, he got 19 wickets in 27 matches with the economy rate of 3.88.
