Joao Cancelo wins Bundesliga and Premier League simultaneously in same season! Find out how

Portuguese Right back Joao Cancelo has added his name in an incredible list of players winning League titles of 2 different countries in the same season. This doesn’t happen every other year and not every other player can have such luck.

Cancelo started the current season wearing the Man City shirt in what was his 4th season with the English champions. However, an internal disagreement with head coach Pep Guardiola led to his loan move to FC Bayern Munich until the end of the season.

Just 2 months after moving to Germany, Joao Cancelo faced his parent club in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The 29-year-old was a part of the Manchester City team that lost the UCL final at Lisbon in 2020 and the semi-final against Real Madrid last year.

He has also won the English Premier League twice with City in 2020-21 and 2021-22. In the latter season, Cancelo played an important role for the Cityzens, where he displayed his sheer versatility by deploying in the left-back position.  He racked up 10 assists and 3 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions.

Many blamed Pep Guardiola for letting his move to Bayern materialize but as the Spaniard admitted himself, his team must not have unhappy players. But regardless, Joao Cancelo has won Bundesliga and English Premier League simultaneously.

City lifted the PL trophy for the 3rd season in a row last Sunday and Bayern eclipsed Bundesliga for the 11th season in a row during their final league tie against FC Koln.

Joao Cancelo can still win the Treble with Man City!

Manchester City only have 3 games left this season. One of them will take place later tonight when they travel to the Community Stadium to take on Brentford. The remaining 2 games will give Manchester City and Joao Cancelo a chance to win the famous Treble.

On 3rd June, City will lock horns with cross town rivals Manchester United at Wembley for the FA Cup final. A week later at Istanbul on 10th June, one single win will define all of City’s hard work throughout the year with Inter Milan waiting for them in the final.
