‘I’ve been lucky to take 5 wickets’ Says Mohit Sharma After GT beats MI to reach the IPL 2023 Final

IPL 2023 Qualifier 2: Mohit Sharma feels lucky to take 5 wickets

Mohit Sharma, a bowler for the Gujarat Titans, expressed his gratitude for his five wickets against the Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In Qualifier 2, GT defeated MI by 62 runs to secure a place in the IPL 2023 championship game.

After the game, Mohit stated that he believed MI might reach the 234-run goal with Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma at the crease and that he felt fortunate to have taken five wickets off MI. In 2.2 overs in Ahmedabad, Mohit got five wickets while conceding only 10 runs.

“Getting five wickets was pure luck for me. The ball was often skidding. It seemed like Mumbai Indians may complete this chase when Surya and Tilak were batting,” remarked Mohit.

Insisting that he was concentrating on delivering length balls in their game against MI, he continued by saying that he was aware not to experiment when Suryakumar was batting. GT knocked MI out for 171 runs to qualify for the IPL 2023 Final after posting 233 for 3 thanks to an outstanding Shubman Gill century.

“I reasoned that since Surya was ahead of me, we shouldn’t try too many new things. We want to play it safe when trying to stop Surya since we know that he must be planning three to four shots ahead of time. As it is not always simple to accomplish such length shots, you occasionally need to bowl length balls.” Such contests have been lost and won by GT, according to Mohit.

After defeating MI, Gujarat Titans will focus on MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, with the two teams scheduled to square off in Ahmedabad on May 28 for the IPL 2023 Final.
