Men in Blue will be competing against Sri Lanka in the month of July for three ODI and five T20I series in the island nation.

The biggest thing which came as a surprise is the fact that India will be playing red ball series in the same month in England against Kiwis and home team for the inaugural edition of World Test Championship final and five match series.

The news related to Men in Blue travelling to Sri Lanka was confirmed by Board President Sourav Ganguly.

Meanwhile it is understood that players who are part of WTC final in England will not be travelling to Sri Lanka due to logistical reason.

Thus a white ball specialist team will be announced soon who will be travelling to Sri Lanka. Also several experience players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will be in England so in that case the experience campaigner like Shikhar Dhawan might get an opportunity to lead India in the island nation.

“We have planned a white ball series for the senior men’s team during the month of July where they will play T20 Internationals and ODIs in Sri Lanka. Yes, it will be a team of white-ball specialists. It will be a different team,” Ganguly said as quoted by Sportstar.

“The BCCI president is very keen that all our top players are match ready and since England doesn’t have a white ball leg the month of July can be utilized well,” the source told PTI.

If reports are to believed, players like Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson is likely to get an opportunity to play for India in a white ball series against Sri Lanka.
