ISL 2020-21: Gerard Nus Bringing about the ‘Red Revolution’ at NorthEast United FC

Times of India

North East United FC have got an impressive start in the ongoing 2020-21 season of Indian Super League in contrast to their performance in last season. As they have played five matches so far in this season and have registered victories in all the matches and they are currently placed at third spot in the points table.

When the season started nobody gave chance to them as they were touted underdogs in the competition and the credit for their performance should be given to their coach Gerard Nus. With the way they have performed till now the Guwahati based side have displayed that they can beat any side on a given day.

“We are in the process of getting better every day as a team and also individually. I believe a lot in working and when you keep pushing, you get good results, in life or football,” said Nus, who formerly worked with Rafael Benitez at Liverpool FC, while speaking to Indian Super League.

Nus, being the youngest coach in ISL 2020-21 season have successfully taught his players to play attacking football and bring their own flair in every game. Things which is clearly evident on their every game is that they are fearsome, tactically organised, and hard to break down.

The Highlanders have been effective so far in both halves on the field. Opposition have struggled to score against them as they have already registered two clean sheets so far which is one short of last season tally. In terms of scoring goals they are currently at par with table toppers Mumbai City FC.
