Is India recalling Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammad Shiraj in T20 series is a good choice against NZ?

When you look at the result between India and Pakistan where the latter has defeated the former by ten wickets by the individual brilliance of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Many Cricket pundits have stated that the reason why India struggled in this ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup is by not selecting players like Chahal and Shiraj who were in a top-notch form in the second leg of IPL 2021.

Brining Chahal back in the upcoming T20 International series against Black Caps means that selectors did a wrong choice by not including the ace spinner in India’s poor T20 World Cup campaign in UAE. Shiraj should be groomed for white-ball format as his attacking mindset and his raw pace will help Men in Blue for the long run which will ease pressure on Jasprit Bumrah who is leading the Indian bowling attack in all three formats in the last few years.

Men in Blue is undergoing a vast change in their white-ball format especially in T20 outing as the management has recently appointed Rohit Sharma as the new skipper and Kl Rahul has been given Vice Captaincy role as the likes of Kohli, Bumrah, Jadeja, and Shami has been rested for T20 International series against New Zealand. The selectors have dropped Hardik Pandya as they are not happy with his performance with bat and ball as Vadodra based all-rounder is struggling to bowl his full quota of four overs and picking him in the team purely because of his batting is not justifiable considering his current form.

Talking about India’s dismal outing in the ongoing T2o World Cup, where Men in Blue suffered huge defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan and New Zealand by 10 and 8 wickets respectively. Due to dismal performance in the first two matches their net run rate dropped significantly and winning three matches against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia couldn’t help them to progress in the semifinal round of the marquee event.
