9 matches have already been played in the Indian Premier League and last night at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders showed every other 9 IPL teams how to utilize the Impact player conundrum which is on effect from this year. After Shardul Thakur’s impactful knock of 68 off 29, KKR’s Impact Player Suyash Sharma helped them win their first game of the season.
The 2-time IPL champions are anyways known for garnering and grooming mystery spinners and seems as if they have a new bloke in town. Although the spin attack was mainly led by Varun Chakravarthy who took 4-wickets by giving away just 15 runs, Suyash Sharma had figures of 3/30.
19 year old Suyash Sharma plays for Delhi U25 team and didn't play any List A, FC, or T20 games before this.
First ever IPL game and he went 3/30 (4)

His economy rate on debut in front of a Batting powerhouse like RCB was impressive as he leaked 7.50 runs per over. The right arm leg-spinner looked very sharp and took 3 wickets with 2 important dismissals of Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat and Tailender Karn Sharma.
You have to love the @IPL because it throws up stories like this. Ignites dreams. #SuyashSharma took some important steps tonight. Well played. @KKRiders @RevSportz @debasissen @CricSubhayan @Fancricket12 pic.twitter.com/1mnbtFE8kO

It is hard to believe that Suyash Sharma is just 19-years-old and has never played a First class match in his career. The youngster was bought by the KKR management for perhaps a bargain of INR 20 Lakhs, which was his actual base price. His Captain Nitish Rana had positive words for the 19-year-old.

“Suyash is a confident young man and he has belief in himself. He made his chance count and it was great to see him bowl that way.” He came in as a substitute for opener Venkatesh Iyer and helped the bowling attack very well. But it was only because of Shardul Thakur’s firing knock that KKR posted 204 runs otherwise Suyash Sharma couldn’t have made an impact.
KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit also applauded the Spinner saying – “We saw him in trial matches and were extremely happy with the way he bowled. He’s quick through the air, difficult to pick. He’s inexperienced but shows a very good attitude.”
