IPL 2023 : Shubman Gill’s sister Shahneel Gill faces online abuse after Gujarat Titans knocked out RCB!

The final league stage fixture between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bangalore was an absolute cracker of a match as we witnessed 2 Centurions in one single match. It was going to be a do or die match for the Bangalore based outfit as a win could have guaranteed them a place to the play-offs but the reigning champions kept them away from securing back-to-back appearances in the play-offs.

Gujarat had won the toss and elected to Bat first at the Chinnaswamy stadium. After a positive start, wickets kept falling at regular intervals for RCB but Virat Kohli held himself steady towards the other end of the pitch. The Ace Indian batter scored his 2nd century in IPL 2023 and also became the batter with most centuries in the history of the tournament.

However, Shubman Gill retaliated with a fierce Century of his own which was also his 2nd IPL Ton of the 2023 edition. His innings took the match far away from RCB’s reach as Gill smacked a 6 to get to his 100 as well as the winning runs. The 23-year-old’s 104 off 52 balls was a terrific way of announcing himself against the best of Bests in IPL and he will remember humbling Kohli’s side for a long time.

But after the match his sister Shahneel Gill who was among the spectators at Chinnaswamy last Sunday became a subject of online abuse from a sect of either RCB fans or Virat Kohli fans. In her recent Instagram post, she uploaded pictures of her alongside the wives of Gujarat Titans players watching GT cruise over RCB by 6 wickets with a caption of “An incredible day spent with the most gorgeous people.”

To that RCB fans rallied her comments with a few becoming a “like button for Kohli and a dislike button for Shubman Gill”. Some fans even abused Gill for being the prodigy of Virat Kohli and for a fact, Shubman indeed rattled the Royal Challengers by swiftly batting at a strike rate of 200 powered by 8 Fours and 5 Sixes.
