IPL 2023 : RCB sign South Africa’s Wayne Parnell as replacement for Reece Topley!

IPL 2023 RCB sign South Africa's Wayne Parnell as replacement for Reece Topley!

Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed the services of South African Veteran pace bowler Wayne Parnell to replace their injured left-arm English seamer Reece Topley for IPL 2023. Although Topley was important for RCB’s plans but the management will be happy to have Parnell who also has good experience of playing in the IPL.

During the opening match of RCB at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium against Mumbai Indians, Topley sustained a shoulder injury and if reports are to be believed then he left the RCB camp for England to treat a dislocated shoulder. The English International made his T20I debut for the Three Lions in 2015 and has picked 22 wickets in 22 outings.

“Bangalore’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar said that We tried our best to keep him here, but the treatment and the experts suggest that he is going to be out of action for some time.”

His consistency was one of the reasons why RCB splashed INR 1.9 Crores but an attempt (Dive) while fielding against MI means he will make his possible return next year. The South Indian franchise have also replaced injured Indian uncapped player Rajat Patidar with Vyshak Vijay Kumar.

With RCB’s batting order still facing questions, they have replaced Patidar with Karnataka’s Vijay Kumar who is actually a Left-arm pacer. Rajat Patidar’s Achilles heel injury ruled him out of the season and Vyshak kumar’s inclusion must aid Bangalore’s disappointing bowling unit which went for a lot of runs last evening and conceded 90+ runs in the final 5 overs of the 1st innings.

Parnell in all of his 26 appearances for Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors India he has collected 26 wickets and he joined RCB for a bargain of INR 75 Lakhs while Vyshak Vijay Kumar will join for INR 20 Lakhs.
