IPL 2023: MI registers historic win over PBKS With Giant Run-Chase

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Wednesday, Mumbai Indians made history by successfully chasing down the 215-run goal set for them by Punjab Kings. Mumbai Indians witnessed powerful performances from Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan as the Indian pair led the club to a 6-wicket victory in Mohali in what was yet another high-scoring match in the 16th season of the T20 league.

The five-time winners were the first team in IPL history to successfully chase down a 200-plus mark in two straight games as a consequence of the run-chase.

The team had previously defeated Rajasthan Royals thanks to Tim David’s heroics, with Rohit’s team successfully chasing down a 213-run mark.

The goal of 215 runs set by Punjab seemed like a tall order given how MI’s batting lineup has performed this season. Ishan, though, expertly set the stage with a 41-ball 75. Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 66) and Cameron Green (23 off 18) kept the team in the hunt.

However, MI supporters had a reason to be concerned after Surya left. Tim David and Tilak Varma showed what a great wicket Mohali had for batters. The two completed the chase in 18.5 overs, scoring 19 off of 10 and 26 off of 10 respectively.

As a consequence, PBKS failed to end their home-game winless streak. The Punjab team led by Shikhar Dhawan suffered its fourth straight loss in Mohali.

With five victories in nine games following the victory, Mumbai Indians are now in sixth place in the points table.
