IPL 2023 : Karun Nair comes in asa replacement for injured LSG Captain KL Rahul!

The IPL 2023 campaign of Lucknow Super Giants took a serious hit on Friday when it was announced that their captain, KL Rahul, will miss the rest of the competition due to a leg injury he sustained in the team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Following that day, LSG confirmed that former RCB star Karun Nair would take over as his replacement.

It was announced on Twitter when LSG posted the infamous “Dear Cricket” remark from the seasoned India star.

The LSG reported on Friday that “further tests and scans have unfortunately confirmed a significant tear to Rahul’s tendon which will require surgery.” He was really forced to withdraw from the World Test Championship final, which is scheduled to take place at The Oval the following month against Australia, due to the injury.

They announced Nair’s selection as Rahul’s alternative for the season later that day after sharing his popular tweet from December. Nair, who became India’s second triple-century player in Test cricket, tweeted: “Dear Cricket, Give Me One More Chance” after being passed over for the Ranji Trophy.

In his tenth IPL season, Nair has accumulated 1496 runs in 76 outings with four clubs, with 10 fifties. He was selected by the RCB team after establishing himself in domestic circuitĀ in 2013, and featured for two years before joining the Rajasthan Royals in 2014.

In 2016 and 2017, he played for the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals), before relocating to the Punjab franchise. In 2022, he went back to Rajasthan, but had only played three times and scored 16 runs before the team discharged him.
