Anrich Nortje

South African pacer who is part of Delhi Capitals lineup Anrich Nortje who was expected to start his training with Kagiso Rabada from April 14th 2021 has been tested positive for COVID-19.  But he will have to undergo 10 more days of isolation and return with two negative tests and then he will be allowed to join the bubble again.

Interestingly the date is yet to be revealed when he contracted the virus. It is not the first case that any player or any support staff has been tested positive with COVID-19 in IPL 2021.

Earlier also players like Devdutt Paddikal and Nitish Rana has been tested positive with this virus. According to one of the sources initially, when Nortje landed in India he was tested negative but in the mid of his isolation has been tested positive.

“He came in with a negative report, but has unfortunately tested positive now while undergoing quarantine, the source said according to India Today.

As five players from South Africa came to India after playing his second ODI which includes the names like De Kock, Ngidi, Nortje, Rabada and Miller where De Kock played his first game of IPL 2021 in the recently concluded encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, the question arises now as Rabada and Nortje came from the same flight and playing for the same franchise and it remains to be seen if the former isolation period will increase now.

In case Rabada isolation period increases the Capitals still have players like Woakes and Curran in their lineup and the duo might get one more game to prove their mettle in an upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals.
