International Champions Cup

Arsenal will take on Bayern Munich on 18th July in International Champions Cup. The German Champions have won previous 2 out of the 3 meetings against the English side, however, the last time they met in International Champions Cup, Gunners got the better of the German Champions 3-2 on penalties. The German club will look to be on the winning side this time around and move ahead in the competition with confidence.

Arsenal has been linked with a host of players, but not much has moved, showcasing their struggle in the transfer window thus far. They have only made one signing till now, the 18yr old Gabriel Martinelli, who would not be a guaranteed starter for them.

The promising left winger has been signed from the Brazilian side Ituano. Gunners have been heavily linked with the likes Wilfried Zaha, Lucas Vazquez, Brazilian forward Malcolm, among others, but the high price demand of the teams involved has put Gunners on the back foot.

Bayern Munich will miss the likes of Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery, who are in the twilight of their careers and have left the German club, in the upcoming season. They have played an instrumental role in the success of the club over the years. These two players will go down in the club history as legends.

The German champions have bought the likes of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard to strengthen their back line. Lucas had a fantastic season with Atletico Madrid at the back and was brought by the barbarians for 80 million. Pavard has been brilliant for French National team and made a huge name for himself at the 2018 World Cup. However, to make up for the loss of two of their quality players, Bayern has turned their eyes towards Manchester City star Leroy Sane, who hasn’t got enough game time as he would have liked.

The young winger has been a Pep Guardiola favorite from the beginning and therefore, City will be reluctant to let him go. Bayern Munich will have to pay a huge sum of money to land Leroy Sane this summer. They are desperate to bring him in especially after the loss of two world-class players.

Unai Emery will have his task cut out in the pre-season as he looks to build a team good enough to at least challenge for the top four, if not the title. Arsenal will be without Champions League football this season, courtesy of their poor 18-19 campaign, which will further dent their chances of getting a quality player. Emery will have to find somebody to fill in the shoes of Aaron Ramsey who has left for Turin side, Juventus.

Bayern Munich will put their disappointing Champions League campaign behind themselves when they step out on the field. Niko Kovac, the Bayern manager has a decent squad to work with. Now it is up to the manager to bring out the best in his players.

Arsenal will begin their Premier League campaign against Newcastle on 11th August, while Bayern Munich will face Hertha on 17th August in their season opener.
