India’s Playing XI from Virat Kohli Test Debut and Their Present Whereabouts

When a young and talented cricketer steps onto the field for their Test debut, it marks the beginning of a promising career. Such was the case with Virat Kohli, the renowned Indian batsman who made his Test debut with great anticipation. However, while Kohli’s journey to stardom is well-known, what about the teammates who shared the field with him during that pivotal moment?

India’s playing XI from Kohli’s debut match included Abhinav Mukund, Murali Vijay, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, and Kohli himself. Mukund, a left-handed opener, scored 36 runs in two innings, while Vijay managed only eight runs. Dravid was the Man of the Match, having scored a match-winning century in the second innings.

Abhinav Mukund, who opened the innings with Vijay, played his last Test match in 2017 against Sri Lanka. He has now shifted his focus to state cricket and is playing for Tamil Nadu. Murali Vijay, who had a decent run in Test cricket, last played for India in 2018 against Australia. He is currently playing for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket.

Rahul Dravid, one of the greatest Test batsmen of all time, retired from international cricket in 2012. Currently, he holds the position of head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team.

VVS Laxman, who played a crucial role in India’s famous Test win against Australia in 2001, retired from international cricket in 2012. He Is now a commentator and a mentor to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.

Suresh Raina, who was known for his explosive batting and agile fielding, last played for India in 2018. Recently, he was seen at the commentary box in IPL 2023.

In 2020, MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain, announced his retirement from international cricket. He is currently leading the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

In 2011, India played a Test match with two fast bowlers and two spinners. Harbhajan Singh, the off-spinner, and leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar took the responsibility of India’s pace attack.

Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar have retired from international cricket, while Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma made a comeback in IPL 2023 earlier this year. Mishra played for Lucknow Super Giants, while Ishant Sharma played for Delhi Capitals.
