The Indian made a cut at 60th spot which is the last available quota in the Games rankings. India was only eligible at one spot as that one spot was occupied by Lahiri who was highest placed in latest official golf ranking at the 340th position.

“Best surprise I have got in a while at @Tokyo2020 can’t believe I will have an opportunity to represent the tricolour”Lahiri Tweeted.

Aditi Ashok is also in contention to make the cut for games for a second consecutive time but her qualification for Olympics will certainly depend upon the final Olympic rankings for women’s which will be released on June 29th 2021.

Golf was brought back to Olympics in 2016 before that Golf was played in 1904 in one of the biggest sporting tournament in the world.

India needs leagues like Pro Kabaadi league, Indian Super League in Golf in order to develop talented players who can learn the nuances of the game from national and overseas stars.

India is certainly lacking in providing proper infrastructure to budding players and if the federation works on organizing more competition and infrastructure there is a high chance that more players can come up the ranks and do wonders for the nation at International arena.
