Indian Compound Archery Women’s Team Strikes Gold at Asian Games

In a momentous achievement for Indian sports, the Indian archery compound women’s team clinched a gold medal at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, on Thursday. The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand, and Parneet Kaur displayed exceptional skill and composure as they secured victory in a thrilling final match against Chinese Taipei. However, Team India bounced back, dominating the rest of the match to secure the gold medal.

Before their gold medal-winning performance, the Indian women’s compound archery team, led by Jyothi Surekha Vennam, battled Hong Kong in the quarterfinals. Despite the spirited challenge posed by Hong Kong’s Hung Ting Cheng, Yuk Sheung Wong, and Yin Yi Luk, the Indian archers remained composed and secured victory with a score of 231-220, securing their place in the next round.

In the semifinal match of the event, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand, and Parneet Kaur demonstrated their dominance once again. They faced Indonesia’s Ratih Zilizati Fadhly, Syahara Khoerunisa, and Sri Ranti. The Indian team took control right from the start, amassing 60 points in the first set alone. Their impressive performance earned them a comfortable victory with a final score of 233-219, securing their place in the final.

Indian archers have been on a remarkable journey at the 19th Asian Games, displaying their prowess and determination on the global stage. Earlier in the competition, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Pravin Ojas Deotale had already clinched a gold medal in the archery mixed team compound event.
