The first innings of the first ever One-day International at the Shaheed Singh Veer Stadium at Raipur ended up in favor of the hosts as the Indian bowling line up ran riot against New Zealand on Saturday afternoon. Every Bowler was able to take advantage of the the pitch and used the offerings of the pitch.

There was bounce and a little bit of greenery and India’s bowlers landed the ball perfectly on the seam. Ball positioning, variation and outstanding fielding was the base upon which they bowled out the Kiwis for 108 runs with 16 overs left to bowl.

All the 6 bowlers were able to pick at least one wicket and Mohammad Shami rocked the Kiwis in the 5th ball of the first innings as he removed Finn Allen, followed by 2 important wickets of Daryl Mitchell and Micheal Bracewell.

Mohammad Siraj kept the attack intact and edged Henry Nichols in the first slip.

Mohammad Shami took his 2nd wicket by following his strength as he pitched it high and caught Daryl Mitchel. Then Hardik Pandya pulled off a stunning catch with one hand and in the next over Shardul Thakur removed the captain to make it 15/5.

Micheal Bracewell, Glenn Phillips and Mitchel Santner were the only 3 Kiwi batters to reach double figures in the match. Phillips had the highest score with 36 runs, Bracewell scored 22 runs and Mitchel Santner could go as much as 17 runs.

The target India have received could be a cake walk and Shubhman Gull-Rohit Sharma on the top will try to not let the following batters to have a go.
