Earlier today during India’s clash against New Zealand for the 1st ODI of the 3-match ODI Series, Indian opener Shubhman Gill became the latest batter to score a Double century. His 200 has come after Ishan Kishan‘s double-ton against Bangladesh less than a month ago.
Gill, who opened the innings alongside Rohit Sharma scored his 3rd ODI Full century and his first ever 200. Not only has he become only the 5th Indian batter to score a 200 but he has also become the fastest Indian Batsman to reach 1000 ODI runs.

The 23-year-old took only 19 innings to reach 1000 runs. He scored his 1st and 1000th run against the same opponents – New Zealand. He made his debut in 2019 at Hamilton and since then what a journey he has had. His latest knock will provide a bit of relief to the management who have been struggling to find a good opener alongside Rohit Sharma.
Gill’s outstanding innings included 19 fours and 9 sixes powered by a strike rate of 139.60. He took his tally 1102 runs in 19 ODI innings averaging 68.87. Meanwhile, Shubhman Gill has now become the 2nd fastest Batter to reach the milestone alongside Pakistan’s Imam-Ul-Haq.
