“I’ll be at home shortly and then I’m coming back to win this World Cup”, Mitchell Marsh on his absence

"I'll be at home shortly and then I'm coming back to win this World Cup", Mitchell Marsh on his absence

Star Australian All-rounder, Mitchell Marsh was forced to leave the Aussie camp mid-way through the ICC Cricket World cup 2023 in India. The main reason for his sudden leave is yet not clarified but Cricket Australia suggested that Marsh has some personal issues to deal with.

As a result, he has been ruled out of Australia’s next WC league match against England tomorrow at the Narendra Modi Stadium. His exclusion might prove to be costly for Australia who also have the Big show Glenn Maxwell ruled out of the match after as he suffered a concussion while playing Golf.

Marcus Stoinis, who was dealing with a minor calf problem is likely to make his way into the starting XI. Marsh and Maxwell’s exclusion could bring about a little bit of instability in Australia’s batting line-up as both of them have been in exquisite form.

Their absence could see Steve Smith promoted to number 3 with Marnus Labuschagne retaining his position in the middle-order. It remains to be seen who will come in for Glenn Maxwell who smashed the fastest century in World cup history a couple of weeks ago.

Australia’s final 3 matches are against England, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Mitchell Marsh is certain to miss tomorrow’s encounter and it is not clear if he will return for the final 2 matches.

However, his team mate Marcus Stoinis revealed that Marsh went back to the land down under to address a family issue.

“He’s flown home late last night: he’s got a family issue going on. And, like we all know, family is very important. He’s doing the right thing and he’s getting home and he’s seeing the people he needs to see and then I don’t think there’s a timeline on when he’s coming back but I’m sure he’ll do what he needs to do at home and then and then get back.” – Stoinis said.

He also revealed that Marsh will come back to India for the World cup and that he is determined to win the World cup. “I’ll be home for a little bit and then I’m coming back to win this World Cup’ so that makes me smile.” – Stoinis concluded.
