ICC Player of the month award : Shubhman Gill and Mohammad Siraj among the probables to win!

India’s star opening batter Shubhman Gill and Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj are among the players who have been nominated for the ICC Player of the month award for January 2023. Both the players had extra-ordinary starts to the year following series wins against Sri-Lanka and New Zealand.

First, the Blues defeated Sri-Lanka for a 3 match T20I and ODI series followed by New Zealand’s thumping in another 3-match ODI and T20I series. Both Gill and Siraj produced good performances in favor of the team and are expected to play an important role in the year ahead.

They have been selected for the Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia and will look to replicate the same performance in red-ball cricket. Gill has been the biggest revelation in Indian cricket following his consistent displays at the top.

The 23-year-old has already scored 3 Full centuries this year alongside a Double century against New Zealand. In total he scored 567 runs in January in ODIs. Mohammad Siraj on the other hand has been the best bowler for India and his performance with the ball saw him become the number 1 bowler in ICC rankings.

The Hyderabad-born bowler took 9 wickets against Sri-Lanka in the 3-match ODI Series. Against the Blackcaps, the 28-year-old took 5 wickets in 2 matches. He has an economy rate of just 4.61 in since his debut in 2019 against Australia.

Gill and Siraj are definitely for the future and they are a huge asset for India. Their fitness without a doubt must remain intact if their form remains the same, India can become 3-time World champions later this year.
