Bengal Warriors are having a roller coaster ride in the ongoing season of the Pro Kabaddi League as they have seen almost everything in their recent matches, from winning the matches to conceding draws and being outplayed. The team lost its last match against the formidable Haryana Steelers side, who were outstanding last night at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi. The team will now be facing Tamil Thalaivas in their next match at the same venue and will look turn the tables in their favour.

Following are the excerpts from their post-match Press conference:

Press Conference:

Question:  Coach (BC Ramesh), what actually cost you the game today?

Ramesh BC(Coach): Actually we started on a good note and our players were looking to score points. First half was almost in our favour as we matched the level of the opponents in the early stages of the game.  But as the game proceeded, our defenders seemed to give away the points to their raiders. Talking about the defense, it clearly visible that it was not up to the mark today. This cost us today’s game.

Question: Coach, the raiders were a bit off touch in the second half getting out frequently from the mat. Don’t you think Sukesh Hegde could have been given a chance then?

Ramesh BC: Even if we couldn’t use Sukesh in the game, we already had three raiders in the game. Either of the raider was present on the mat at any point in the game. Even I was wondering, considering Sukesh to play in the second half, however, we decided against it, as Prapanjan was getting us the points at the right time whenever the team required. We would have only used Sukesh in case Prapanjan was under any pressure, but that wasn’t the case.

Question: Prapanjan’s performance was more impactful in the first half but it went a bit down in the second half. What do you have to say?

Ramesh BC:  See, it’s a bit difficult to score more raid points in the second half if the team is under pressure. The second half saw our team with only 4-5 players on the mat, on most occasions during the game, that obviously increased the pressure as well as the responsibility on him. Otherwise, he delivered an outstanding performance in the game.
