Founded 148 years ago in 1871, the Football Association Challenge Cup, also known as the FA Cup, is a knockout football competition in men’s domestic English football that happens annually. Clearly being the oldest national football competition in the world, it was first played during the 1871-72 season. Due to sponsorship reasons, the FA Cup is also known as the Emirates FA Cup from 2015 through to 2019.
Any football club that is eligible down to Level 10 of the English football league system, including all the 92 professional football clubs in the Level 1 of the Premier League, Levels from 2 to 4 of the English Football League and hundreds of non-league football teams in the Steps from 1 to 6 of the Levels from 5 to 10 of the National League System, can take part in the FA Cup. The FA Cup is a qualifying round for the UEFA Europa League and the winners hold a place in the FA Community Shield match as well. Winners are also awarded the FA Cup trophy. Chelsea became the current title holders after defeating Manchester United with a score of 1-0 in the final match of 2018 season, bagging their 8th FA Cup title. But leading the board is Arsenal with 13 FA Cup titles.
