‘He will score 250’-Ashish Nehra backs Virat Kohli to score big in the second Test against England

India succumbed a humungous defeat by 227 runs in the first Test against England at Chennai and currently trailing behind the four-match series by 0-1. Most of the Indian batsman failed in the second innings of the first Test match barring Shubhman Gill and Kohli who scored 50 and 72 runs but that was not enough for Men in Blue to cross the line.

Despite the loss, former Indian speedster Ashish Nehra has backed skipper Kohli to score as many as 250 runs if India wins the toss at Chennai for the second Test on 13th Feb 2021.

He also asserted that Kohli was looking in sublime form in the second innings of the First Test but the delivery from Stokes was superb which stayed low a bit and anyone would have got out on that ball.

You are talking about one or two centuries, I would say when India wins the toss, he will score 250 also. This is the special thing about Virat Kohli. When Ashwin got out, he knew that they would lose the match but he did not play any airy-fairy shots.”

“He takes pride in scoring his own runs, that he should not get out. Anyone would have got out to the ball he was dismissed, it kept extremely low,” Ashish Nehra said on Star Sports.

However, Nehra also lauded the Indian skipper for being the consistent performer when batting is concerned and always looking forward to contributing towards the victory.

“He kept at it which you need to do on the fourth and fifth days on a subcontinent pitch. The desire makes this player different from others and it is not only here when he couldn’t score runs in England, very few people would have seen Virat Kohli lunging forward to play the defensive shots. To do that, you need fitness,” Nehra concluded.
