Harsha Bhogle trolled for interviewing Jadeja in Hindi

The Indian Cricket Team marked a spectacular comeback in the ODI series against West Indies after they were 0-1 down to win 2-1 in Cuttack on Sunday. After the Windies had scored 315 runs in their 50 overs, the onus was on the skipper Virat Kohli to take his team over the line after the top four had perished.

However, when the right-hander was dismissed, India still needed 30 to win in 23 balls, but the game was easily won as the duo of Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja played some big hits to help the team clinch the series.

The two batters were interviewed by Harsha Bhogle, commentator, after the game, where he asked Thakur and Jadeja about what their approach had been in the dying stages. However, fans were left angry after Bhogle asked Thakur the questions in English and shifted to Hindi for Jadeja.

The spinner, who made 39 in 31, started replying in Hindi but switched to English mid-way, after which Bhogle too asked the remaining questions in English.

It was then that the fans asked Bhogle the reason for interviewing Jadeja in Hindi initially, which was explained by the man himself in a tweet.

“Okay, since I have been flooded with responses on this…. In a post match presentation, you always go in the language the player is most comfortable in. I’ve known Jadeja for 10 yrs now and so began in his language. The moment he indicated he was good to go in English, I shifted,” the 58-year-old said.

On his part, Jadeja told Bhogle that his plan was to play the ball on its merit, and asked Thakur not to play silly shots. The latter scored 17 in six balls with the help of two fours and a six as Team India won the series.
