Former Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland lands top Golf job as he was recently appointed the head of Golf Australia, two years of stepping down from Cricket Australia CEO post amid the ball-tampering scandal which is certainly touted as the dark incident of Australian cricket.
The 55 year Old will resume his new office from 1st October 2020 and he is elated to take up his new job.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work in golf, obviously for Golf Australia, but most importantly for the sport around the nation,” Said Sutherland who lead Australian cricket Board for 17 years and have huge experience of leading the sports board effectively and efficiently to a great extent
On his appointment, Golf Australia current Chairman Andrew Newbold said that it was important for us as a board to appoint someone of his stature who knows how to run a leading sports organisation in the country.
“He did so much in cricket at so many levels from playing to financial and corporate to stakeholder relations,” He said.
He spent around 20 years in Australian cricket board and often credited for implementing those steps which made the sport popular in the country especially women’s cricket.
He resigned from his post due to personal reasons. As per the media reports, he took this decision after the image of Australian cricket was hampered post-Ball-tampering scandal where three Australian players Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft was found guilty and suffered a one year ban from all forms of cricket.
