"For So Many Years..." Rohit Sharma's Verdict on Tim David Being Kieron Pollard Successor

Tim David hit three consecutive sixes against Jason Holder in the penultimate over to help Mumbai Indians defeat Rajasthan Royals by six wickets on Sunday, negating star Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s first century (124) in the process.

At the Wankhede Stadium, MI needed 17 runs off the final over to beat the 213-run target, and David hit three consecutive sixes to send his team home in what was also the IPL’s 1000th game. With the aid of 5 sixes and 2 fours, the right-handed hitter scored 45 not out off 14 balls.

The legendary T20 player Kieron Pollard earlier performed a same role for MI in the IPL. The Caribbean star eventually made the decision to stop competing in T20 tournaments before the 2023 season.

While many experts believe that David will replace MI’s Pollard, Rohit Sharma also believes that the Australian cricketer who was born in Singapore has a significant gap to fill.

Very happy with how we pursued this. We nearly achieved the same in the last match. We can do it, but we must believe in ourselves, Rohit stated following Sunday’s IPL 2023 match.

“Big shoes to fill, Polly won so many championships for us over a long period of time. Tim, though, is extremely talented and strong. Having such power at the end keeps the bowlers on their toes, he continued.

Jaiswal’s score of 124 off 62 balls had helped RR reach a challenging total of 212 for 7 in 20 overs. He hit 16 fours and 8 sixes in his knock. At the other end, wickets continued to fall frequently, but Jaiswal’s outstanding performance helped RR to a significant total.

“I watched him last year; he has raised the bar this year.” I asked him about where he gets all that strength, and he said that he works out frequently and has excellent timing. Good for him, good for Indian cricket, and good for RR as well” said Rohit while praising Jaiswal.
