One of the best news that has come across in favor of our national Sport Hockey is that, tickets at host city Rourkela’s Birsa Munda Stadium have been sold out. It is for the second time in a row that Odisha is hosting the biggest event of Hockey after the 2018 edition where Belgium became the World Champions.
The excitement and enthusiasm is rising as the tournament is getting closer with over 2 weeks left for the Hockey World cup to start. Fans of the sport are getting restless as they wait to see the biggest stars of Hockey from 13 January onwards.
16 elite teams will battle it out for the ultimate Hockey crown and the anticipation of people from Rourkela has risen to the summit as the city prepares to foster the event for the first time. Fans turned up in numbers at the Newly built Birsa Munda Stadium’s ticket box office on 19th of December to buy the tickets and within a week, all of the tickets have been sold.
The Birsa Munda Stadium which is also known as the New Jewel has a capacity of fitting over 20,000 people and it will host a total of 20 FIH Hockey World cup 2023 matches. Bhuvaneshwar’s Kalinga Stadium on the other hand will host 24 matches including Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and the Finale. The Kalinga Stadium has a capacity of over 15,000 people.

The Indian team play 2 out of their 3 group stage matches at the Birsa Munda Stadium. The host nation will begin their journey on 13 January against Spain followed by a clash against England on 15th January. India will take on Wales in their last group stage match on 19th Jan at the Kalinga Stadium. All of the matches are scheduled to start from 7:00 PM onwards.
Match day tickets for India’s fixtures are priced at 500 INR for the West Stand, INR 400 for East Stand and INR 200 for North and South stand. For other matches, the tickets are set to be sold at the rate of INR 500 for West Stand, INR 200 for East stand and INR 100 for North and South stand.
