Indian women’s Hockey midfielder Nikki Pradhan said to succeed in Olympics we need experience midfielders in our team as the upcoming mega event has been rescheduled to 2021 from 2020 due to COVID-19.
She was part of that national squad who won the gold medal in Women’s Asia Cup 2017. She has also represented the team who won FIH Women’s Series finals 2019
As Indian women’s team qualified for Tokyo Olympics after beating USA at the FIH Olympic qualifiers last year. They are working hard amid this pandemic time to give their best for the upcoming mega event.
She also talked about the team atmosphere and what the Indian team has achieved in past few years in detail.
“We are lucky to have so many midfielders in the Indian team who have already played 100 matches for the national squad. Experience is a huge factor when it comes to the Olympics and if we give our 100 percent we can win against any team. Experience helps players to remain calm and think clearly under pressure therefore our experience midfielders group will be our key to success in forthcoming years, ” The 26 year old midfielder quoted as saying in an Hockey India release.
Indian women’s team has performed really well in last few years breaking into top 10 of FIH World rankings. There is an undue credit which needs to be given to Sports Authority of India(SAI) as well as Indian Hockey Federation.
