“English Premier League is more important than anything”, Guardiola admits after beating Real Madrid!

2 days after thrashing Real Madrid by 4-0 in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admitted that winning the English top-flight is a bigger task than anything else. His side are aiming to land their 5th PL trophy in last 6 years and they also have an opportunity to land the Treble this year.

On June 3rd, City are set to lock horns with Manchester United in the first ever FA Cup finale featuring a Manchester derby and on June 10th, City will play their 2nd UEFA Champions League final in 3 years against Inter Milan at Istanbul, Turkey.

And tomorrow, the Sky blues are set to square off against Chelsea at the Etihad stadium with a chance to clinch the Premier League title be securing all 3 points. Ahead of the match, City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about the importance of their fixture against Chelsea in a press conference stating the fact that PL is the most important competition.

“The Premier League is the most important competition, because it’s over 10-11 months, every week. We are lucky to finish at home with our people to take it. The last one is the most difficult because there are a lot of emotions. We would not forgive ourselves if we became distracted.” – Guardiola said. 

City have 5 matches to play in the season and 2 out of them are finals. After Chelsea, City will take back-to-back trips away to face Brighton and Brentford before finals against Man United (FA Cup) and Inter Milan (UCL final).

If we talk about their best players, then Erling Haaland has been their leading goal scorer in all competitions. In the Premier League, Haaland has 36 goals and 7 assists in 33 appearances. In UCL, the Norwegian scored 12 goals and an assist.
