The test match of the Women’s Ashes 2023 went in the favor of Australia. They went on to defeat England by 89 runs. This was certainly an important victory, because there was only one test match that was going to be played in the Ashes series. There is no doubt that winning the test series in the Ashes, is like winning half of the Ashes series. However, Ashes is still far away from the end. There are still T20 matches and the ODI matches to be played. There England can certainly go on to showcase the potential they have.
Important moment of the test match
There were several ups and downs for England. In the first inning, it really looked like England could give a good competition, because they went on to score 463 runs. However, later on this match completely turned upside down, and Australia went on to win the match by a good margin. This has certainly given a lot of confidence to the Australian team.
- In the first inning, Australia got a good score of 473 runs. Thanks to Sutherland’s 137. However, later on even England showed a good fight.
- England scored 463 runs. But there is no doubt that they didn’t play as a unit. It was the score of 208 by Beaumont that helped them to reach the score.
- In the next inning, England showed their bowling potential, and they were able to restrict them from getting a big score. They got Australia all out at the score of 257 runs.
- In the 4th and the last inning, England lost 5 wickets at the score of 116. From there it looked like they would not be able to make it.
- On one went Wyatt tried her best to make England win through her maiden test fifty. But effort was not enough, without any support.
Now in the upcoming T20 matches, England is certainly going to try its best to win. But one thing is sure, that is going to turn out to be a very exciting Ashes series.
